The House

Our architecturally built house, within walking distance to the National Park and 5 minutes drive from Killarney town centre, is just four years old and has been finished to a very high standard. It is bright and warm and, despite being a large house, retains a cosy atmosphere. Although it is new and quite modern, the house has a country classic look which makes it very comfortable. Underfloor heating throughout gives the house a constant temperature in every season The large windows make the whole house very bright and allow guests to enjoy the wonderful garden and its private setting even from indoors.

On offer to our guests are:

Entrance Hall

You will know just by walking through this door that you are Home away from Home and we are sure you will want to stay forever once you enter our spacious and welcoming hallway and come face to face with its beautiful curved staircase and gallery which set the tone of the grandeur and elegance of Scartlea House.

Kitchen/Dining Room

This gorgeous open plan room has everything for the amateur chef, including a 7 ring gas stove with three ovens as well as a large handmade dining table made from reclaimed wood, easily seating 8-10 people and looking out across the entire back garden. This room is the ideal hub for group cooking and dining and general getting together.

Living Room

Open to the kitchen, this is a large, high ceilinged room, with an L-shaped leather couch, LCD TV and DVD player and a beautiful gas stove to cosy up the evenings. The large windows give a wonderful sense of light throughout the day.

Sitting Room

This elegant evening room adds a touch of opulence with its fine furnishings, fireplace filled with candles for a little romance, bookcases laden with books and DVD's for those lazy afternoons and, of course, the HD projector and cinema screen with surround sound for the home theatre movie nights!

A little nook with bureau and computer for your use, just off the kitchen.

All these rooms also have a built-in central music system.

Laundry room

With all your household needs, a washing machine, dryer and freezer.

Please Note: Although our home is wired for internet and is usually fine for basic usage, this is rural Ireland and the connection can be unreliable at times so please do not rely on it for important work etc. There is free WiFi in the town centre and in all the hotels nearby if ours should not be working during your stay.

Mobile phone coverage is perfect in the area but you may find it difficult to use your phone inside the house itself as our walls are so thick the signal has trouble coming through!! Simply standing outside or near a window does the trick!

Alongside the stone water feature and slate chippings, the many and varied plants and trees bring much colour to the garden throughout the year.
